WSET style tasting note
Appearance – deep intensity ruby/purple, purple rim, showing distinct tears.
Nose – clean on the nose, medium intensity, fully developed, with aromas of stewed blackberry, cherry jam, violets, herbal nuances, and a hint of oak.
Palate – a medium sweet wine, with medium acidity, smooth medium tannins, fortified medium, full bodied, with medium (+) intensity flavours of blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, spice, with a medium(+) length.
Quality – A match for chocolate desserts perhaps, a bit like a young port but without the fierce alcohol. The wine is of very good quality, moderately complex with concentrated aromas and flavours, with a balance of acidity to residual sugar + alcohol, which together with the soft tannins gives a clean finish on the palate of soft sweet perfumed fruit.
