Fugnano Chianti Colli Senesi, 2009

Fugnano Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, Tuscany, 2009

Sangiovese; coated cork closure, 13% abv. Ann et Vin, Newark, £10.

WSET style tasting note
Appearance – medium intensity ruby, showing tears.

Nose – clean on the nose, medium (+) intensity, well developed, with initial aromas of volatile acidity and farmyard, then revealing spice, preserved red cherry, dried fruit – prunes, sweet violets and sweet tobacco.

Palate – a dry wine, medium (+) acidity, smooth medium (-) tannins, medium (+) alcohol, medium body, with medium intensity flavours of farmyard, of savoury notes, red cherry, violets, with a medium (+) length.

Quality – an interesting wine aroma wise, with tertiary notes, and a fine balance between acidity and alcohol; with no great body, it is a food wine, as one might imagine, perfect with tomato and baked aubergine-based dishes.
