Jim Barry’s Cover Drive, Cabernet sauvignon, 2010

Jim Barry’s ‘The Cover Drive’, 2010, cabernet sauvignon [Coonawarra/Clare Valley], South Australia.

100% cabernet sauvignon; screw cap closure, 14% abv. The Oxford Wine Company, about £14

WSET style tasting note
Appearance – deep intensity ruby, showing tears.

Nose – clean on the nose, with a pronounced intensity, youthful, with aromas of black currant, ripe black cherry and a cedary note.

Palate – a dry wine, with medium acidity, smooth medium tannins, high alcohol with a full body, and with a medium intensity (+), with flavours of black currant, preserved black cherries and liquorice, with a long length.

Quality – a well made wine that is young and balanced and that, with its moderate level of extract and fruit concentration, can develop for another 3-5 years.  A food wine.
