Appearance – deep intensity ruby, showing tears.

Nose – clean on the nose, with a medium (+) intensity, developing, with an initially dominant smoky oaky note, opening into aromas of ripe black fruit – currant and cherry, warm black olives and prunes.

Palate – a dry wine, with medium (+) acidity, smooth medium tannins, medium (+) alcohol with a full body, and with a medium intensity (+), with sweetish flavours of ripe black currant and black cherry, with smoke and wood, with a hint of vanilla on a long length, with a smooth mouthfeel.

Quality – a good quality wine, with a balance between all elements – acidity, alcohol, tannin and aroma/flavour intensity, with a moderate level of extract and fruit concentration.  There is enough acidity and tannin to continue gaining complexity for perhaps another 5 years.
