Nyetimber Classic Cuvee, England, 2007

A blend of  chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier; mushroom cork closure, 12% abv. widely available, about £30

Vinification – ? lees ageing, but probably aligns to the minimum 3 years of Champagne, plus another 1-3 in bottle.

WSET style tasting note
Appearance – pale intensity gold, showing small bubbles and tears.

Nose – clean on the nose, with a medium (+) intensity, developing, with aromas of toast and warm dough, with ripe green fruit – apple, pear and stewed apple, there’s citrus there too with ripe grapefruit.

Palate – a dry wine, with high acidity, no tannin but with a slightly gummy grip, medium alcohol and medium body, with a medium (+) intensity, with flavours of ripe green apple, ripe grapefruit and  sweet digestive biscuit.  A creamy mousse, with a long persistence, and a crisp finish on a long length.

Quality – a good quality brut style wine, with moderately complex aromas and flavours. It is a harmonious wine, with a balance between acidity and alcohol + residual sugar, with a creamy mousse and a long clean crisp finish.
