From vineyards at 350-400m near Siena, 25 y.o. vines, cane pruned; fermented at 28-30C and post ferment maceration, in all 8-10 days; MLF then 12 months in Slavonian oak, then filtered prior to bottling.
Natural cork closure, 12.5%, Ann et Vin, £12.
WSET style tasting note
Appearance – clear and bright, medium intensity ruby, showing distinct tears.
Nose – clean on the nose, with a medium (+) intensity, developing, with aromas of lifted preserved cherry, black plum, spicy black olive and a hint of vanilla.
Palate – a dry wine, with medium (+) acidity, medium well integrated tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, with medium (+) intensity flavours of red fruit – cherry, violet, liquorice, dried herbal and savoury nuances. The length is medium (+) with a clean finish.
Quality – a good quality wine, moderately complex, with a balance between acidity and alcohol, which are in harmony with the flavour intensity. Some tertiary development. Quite a good length with a pleasant clean finish. A food wine, which will keep and develop, for perhaps 2-3 years.
