Calvet Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Calvet Limited Release, Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux, France 2013

Screw cap closure, 11.5% abv, widely available, about £8.

WSET style tasting note
Appearance – clear and bright, pale intensity lemon, showing tears.

Nose – clean on the nose, with a medium (+) intensity, youthful, with opening aromas of passion fruit, then sweet elderflower (at mid-flowering), white peach and ripe citrus.

Palate – a dry wine, with high acidity, no tannin but with a slight gummy grip; medium (-) alcohol, a light body, with medium intensity flavours of ripe grapefruit, passion fruit and hint of bell pepper.  A medium length with a clean slightly bitter finish.

Quality – a good quality wine, fresh and fruity, with balanced acidity and alcohol, which are in keeping with the intensity of flavour.  A modest aroma and flavour palette, with modest concentration of flavour and length with a slight bitterness on the finish.  This is a wine with balance, acidity and intensity to keep for a further 1-2 years, but as indicated by overall levels and length, is not of a quality that will improve with cellaring.
