Martin Codax Albarino 2013

Martin Codax, Albarino, DO Rias Baixas, Galicia, Spain, 2013

Screw cap closure, 12.5% abv, widely available, about £10

WSET style tasting note:
Appearance: clear and bright, pale intensity lemon, showing tears.

Nose: clean on the nose, of medium (+) intensity, youthful, with aromas of crisp dessert apple, white grapefruit, a hint of apricot and cut grass, and a little melon.

Palate: a dry wine, with high acidity, a slight gummy grip, medium alcohol and a medium body, of medium intensity, with a slight oily texture, with flavours of grapefruit, lemon pith, and unripe peach and apricot. A medium (+) length with a clean, fresh, slightly grippy finish.

Quality: a good quality wine, with fresh acidity balancing the flavour intensity, whilst in harmony with the modest alcohol. A wine with modest concentration and complexity.  It will keep for 1-2 years, but not improve.
