Mitchell Clare Valley Noble Semillon 2010

Mitchell, Noble Semillon, Clare Valley, South Australia, 2010

Varietal semillon, matured in oak, screw cap closure, 11%abv, about £10

WSET style tasting note
Appearance: clear and bright, deep intensity gold, showing tears

Nose: clean on the nose, of medium (+) intensity, fully developed, with rich botryrised aromas of ripe pineapple, rich sweet marmalade, over-ripe yellow peach and warm concentrated honey.

Palate: a sweet wine, with medium acidity, the slightest gummy grip, medium (-) alcohol and a full body, a smooth oily texture, pronounced intensity, with flavours of rich orange marmalade, over-ripe pineapple, mango, and rich honey.  A long length with a clean finish dominated by rich marmalade and pineapple notes.

Quality: a very good quality wine, well structured with acidity perfectly balancing the rich sweet botrytised flavours. Pronounced intensity all round, with good concentration and definition, of modest complexity but a long long length and an acidity cleansed finish. This wine is ready to drink, will keep for 3-5 years, and not improve in cellar.
