WSET Style tasting note
Appearance: clear and bright, pale intensity gold, showing tears and small bubbles.
Nose: clean, pronounced intensity, developing, with aromas as they come, of toast, spice, fresh-baked pastry, ginger, light malt, ripe grapefruit, lemon zest, apricot skin, white flowers – acacia, ripe green apple, ripe pear, rhubarb, honeyed anise, with a nutty nuance.
Palate: a dry wine, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium (-) body, a light grip, medium (+) intensity, with flavours of lightly confected lemony citrus and grapefruit, toast, danish pastry and ginger. A long apple-toast length, with a creamy mousse, a long persistence, and a light grip.
Quality: a very good quality wine, with fresh acidity in perfect harmony with the intensity of flavour; decent but not outstanding flavour concentration, but showing some complexity, with a touch of tertiary ginger showing through, all panning out to a long appley-toast length.
Readiness for drinking/potential for ageing: can drink now, but has potential for ageing over 3-5 years – the firm acid backbone will support development as the flavour profile becomes richer and deeper with time.
