Patron Anejo Tequila

Patron, Anejo Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico

This spirit: made from 100% blue Weber agave, oak aged for at least two months, 40% abv, 3cl, Drinks by the Dram, £4.36 (12/17)

WSET style tasting note
Appearance: clear and bright, pale intensity gold.

Nose: clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas as they come, of lightly smoked agave, steamed non-aromatic root vegetables – swede and turnip, hint of caramel, hints of old dried lemon peel and wood, white pepper, matured. The addition of water makes no difference to the appearance.

Palate: dry, warming alcohol, medium body, a smooth velvety texture with a very low-key grip, medium intensity, with flavours of smoky agave, root vegetables, a touch of oak, white pepper on the end. A long length, showing some complexity.

Quality: very good, well-integrated warming alcohol lending a smooth velvety texture; sound intensity throughout, with similar concentration, showing a typical (not overly done) wood aged tequila profile, with some complexity; finishes long with a clean smooth finish.
